This walkthrough from Ableton's Live 12.2 feature overview shows how Roar's new sidechain panel turns its feedback into a dynamic, pitched delay effect on a drum bus.
With MIDI-to-Feedback Note Input enabled and the bass routed in, the feedback loop echoes back tuned to whatever note the bass is playing, so instead of a static resonant tone you get a delay-like tail that follows the bassline and locks the distortion harmonically to the mix.
The same drum bus also gets Roar's new Dispersion filter, which offsets high and low frequencies from each other for a bubbly, pitchy texture beyond standard filtering. Mapping an LFO to the Dispersion frequency in the Modulation Matrix keeps that texture moving.
Together, the two moves turn Roar from a static distortion tool into a modulation-driven sound design engine, giving a single drum sound both a musically responsive delay-like feedback and rhythmic motion.
