Alex Reid demonstrates one of Bitwig's most distinctive workflow features: running the Clip Launcher and the linear playlist side by side on the same screen. The technique starts in the Clip Launcher, where ideas take shape as improvised loops, and moves into the arrangement with a simple Ctrl-drag to duplicate selected clips directly into the playlist.
Once clips are in the playlist they appear grayed out by default, and a single button click activates them for linear playback. The real power comes from toggling: you can keep alternate versions of a pattern in the Clip Launcher and audition them against your existing arrangement in real time, switching between two drum patterns, for example, without ever stopping the session.
This back-and-forth between the two views lets you compare variations in context rather than in isolation, which is often when the right choice becomes obvious.
