Take Lanes aren't just for cleaning up recorded takes, they're also a shortcut for creative arranging. This bit shows how to insert Take Lanes manually on any track with Cmd+Shift+T (or Ctrl+Shift+T on PC), without recording anything first.
With the lanes in place, drag in different audio variations of the same pattern, here, three versions of a synth line using different sounds, and comp between them directly. Switching chunks from one version to another on the fly turns a single pattern into an evolving, hybrid sequence you might not have arrived at by writing linearly.
Once the comp feels right, hide the Take Lanes and keep producing as normal, the finished sequence behaves like any other clip. It's a fast way to experiment with texture and variation when you already have a few takes or renders of an idea sitting around.
