This segment from a Bitwig Studio walkthrough on The Grid explains "pre-cords," the wireless connections that modules use by default to handle common routing without requiring visible patch cables. When you drop in an envelope generator, it is already connected to keyboard gate; when you place an oscillator, it is already tracking pitch. These invisible links keep the patch view clean and uncluttered.
Pre-cords are fully optional and can be disabled at any time, freeing those ports for other signals or leaving them unused entirely. The system is designed to make sensible assumptions while staying completely open, so the default behavior works most of the time without locking anything down.
