This Ableton Live tutorial covers two features from the extended view of the Phaser-Flanger device: LFO 2 Mix and Safe Bass. Both are quick to grasp but meaningfully expand what the device can do.
LFO 2 Mix lets you blend a second LFO on top of your primary one. Setting the second LFO to a faster rate, like 16th notes, while the main LFO runs a slow one-bar sweep, layers a rapid wobble onto the broader movement. The result is a more complex, irregular modulation shape that neither LFO would produce on its own.
Safe Bass is a protective low-cut filter built into the device. Phasers and flangers create phase interference that can thin out or destabilize low frequencies, so Safe Bass lets you define a cutoff point below which the effect simply does not apply, keeping the bottom end of your mix intact.
