Tokøta from Mastering.com walks through building an Alchemy patch entirely from scratch in Logic Pro, starting from a blank slate and layering in decisions one at a time.
The patch starts with the Big and Dirty oscillator, then noise gets layered on top and filtered to shape the tone before it gets too harsh.
One source is set to wait a quarter note before triggering, another a half note, then panned hard right. That small timing offset alone adds noticeable depth and movement.
Alchemy's serial and parallel routing knob gets blended partway rather than pushed to either extreme, thickening the sound without collapsing it into mush.
