Turning on Latch lets a played chord keep looping hands-free. Silent Capture (that flashing indicator) holds everything in the background so nothing gets baked in until you decide it's a keeper.
Once you've got a loop you like, Logic gives you two ways to drag it into the arrangement: pull in just the sustained chord, or drag the full arpeggiated pattern as it was played.
Either way, you end up with real, editable MIDI notes on the track, not a locked-in performance. That means you can turn off the arpeggiator afterward and tweak individual notes, giving you more room to experiment during writing and production.
