In this segment from Bitwig's official Grid tutorial series, the presenter demonstrates how an instrument track in Bitwig Studio passes MIDI note data through FX devices, and how the FX Grid can use that pitch information to modulate effect parameters in real time.
The simplest approach is key tracking: a low-pass filter inside the Grid can be set to respond to incoming pitch via a key track input, so higher or lower notes automatically shift the filter cutoff and vary the amount of effect applied.
For more flexible control, the Modulator Out module from the IO category lets you take the raw pitch signal and route it to any parameter in the patch, with independent scaling per destination. This turns a static distortion patch into something that responds expressively to what you play on the keyboard.
