MusicTechHelpGuy walks through Folder Stacks in Logic Pro, one of two ways to group tracks into a track stack. Select multiple tracks, hit shift command D, and choose folder stack to bundle them together.
A folder stack works like a VCA. It gives you one fader for volume plus solo and mute across the whole group, but the actual signal routing never changes since audio still runs straight to the output.
This makes folder stacks useful for organizing sessions, especially in scoring or composition work where you just want to group instruments visually. For mixing and bus processing, summing stacks do more.
To remove a stack, select it and flatten it with shift command U. Watch for the leftover VCA channel that sticks around in the mixer afterward. It needs to be deleted manually or it'll just sit there next to the master VCA.
