Nathan James Larsen fixes a live-recorded cajon that's slightly off the grid, using Flex Time in Logic Pro. The fix hinges on picking the right algorithm: Rhythmic for percussive material, Polyphonic for anything with pitch like piano or vocals, even single-note melodies.
Once Rhythmic is selected, hitting Q enables quantization, snapping hits into place. Switching the grid to 16th notes (via the custom window) tightens things up further.
Flex markers won't always land perfectly. Nathan shows how to delete false markers with X or add missing ones by clicking and dragging, while warning that overcorrecting introduces audible artifacts, especially in polyphonic material.
