Alexander Ewald walks through the full setup of Bitwig Studio's HW FX utility device, covering everything needed to route an external hardware unit into your signal chain as an insert effect. The device acts as a bridge between Bitwig and your outboard gear, with dedicated controls for input and output gain to manage levels on both ends of the connection.
A key part of the setup is latency compensation. The HW FX device can automatically measure the round-trip delay introduced by your audio interface and hardware unit, then offset it so the processed signal stays in sync with the rest of your session.
The bit also covers wet/dry blending within the device, giving you control over how much of the hardware effect sits in the mix without needing extra routing. Once configured, the setup can be saved as a preset for quick recall across projects.
