Ableton Live's Pedal device gives distortion its shape after the drive stage, using a three band EQ built specifically for tone shaping. The mid dial pairs with a 3 way switch centered at 500 Hz, 1 kHz, or 2 kHz, so instead of a generic mid boost you can target the exact range that makes the distortion cut through a mix or sit warmer underneath it.
The Sub switch adds a low shelf boost to everything at 250 Hz and below, separate from the main EQ dials. It's a fast fix for drive stages that thin out low end, useful for keeping guitars, bass, or drum busses full without reworking the EQ curve.
Dry/Wet blends the distorted signal back with the clean source, turning the device into a built-in parallel distortion tool. Rather than committing to full saturation, you can dial in just enough grit to add harmonic weight while keeping the original transients and clarity intact.
